Letters to a Young Poet

Letters to a Young Poet comprises a series of letters sent by Rainer Maria Rilke to friend and colleague Franz Kappus which explore art, poetry, and the human experience. In my design, I focused on self-improvement and reflection through collage and iteration, aiming to convey the idea of working and building towards a goal. The collages contain my own paintings and illustrations of areas in my neighborhood in which I was struck by inspiration, and the leaves that are printed within the pages were collected from these locations in the autumn. I wanted the imagery to speak for itself, so I went with restrained type choices that break the established grid in key moments throughout the publication.
